1. Exercising
Exercise is a great way to get yourself in shape for the summer, boost up your immune system and strengthen your body but, it also plays a role in reducing the risks of developing cancer. Research done by the JAMA Internal Medicine showed that staying active can greatly decrease the chances of developing different types of cancer. The best routine to include in your day to have at least 30 minutes of moderate activity- this can include cycling, a walk in the park, swimming, and much more.
2. Following a Healthy Diet
Similarly, a healthy diet is beneficial for the body. It provides you with the proper nutrients needed to carry out an active lifestyle. In the United Kingdom, studies have indicated that Bowel Cancer is the second leading cancer type and globally it is the fourth leading cancer type. With a diet full of fruits and vegetables and calculated portions, you can lessen the chances of developing bowel cancer.
3. Maintaining a Healthy Weight
It is estimated that around 63% of adults in the United Kingdom are overweight. A study conducted by Cancer Research UK shows that around 22,800 cases can easily be prevented by maintaining a healthy weight. The Body-Mass Index can help you in providing a guideline regarding your weight. BMI of 25 and over are considered to be overweight and BMI of 30 indicates obesity.
4. Avoiding Alcohol
Alcohol can pose a major threat to your overall health. Medical experts state that one should not drink more than six glasses of wine a week. Alcohol can definitely increase the risk of developing many diseases such as cardiovascular problems and cancer.
5. Refraining from smoking
Many people across the world lose their lives to lung cancer and it takes the third position on the most common type of cancers in the United Kingdom. Just with the simple act of avoiding smoking, 79% of cases can be prevented. The carcinogens from the cigarette can immensely damage the lungs and their capacity to work.
Though the above tips were to help you understand the importance of a healthy lifestyle but, other than preventing and lowering the risk of cancer, it can also help you live a healthy and long life.
